Q. I am currently directing a play which is set in the late 1980's and need to know what a 1980's feature wall looks like? What colours should I use?

A. Anything NEON. Posters all over the walls. Anything Madonna, Flash dance. Black walls and black lights. But, I would stick to the Neon colors. That is a sure bet. See step two on the link below. I know this is Halloween, but see decorating.

A. Cedar shake siding on homes were stained dark brown with dusty blue trim. Homes were commonly painted dark beige with brown trim and brown aluminum storm doors were popular. Aluminum siding, still on homes from the 60's, were being given face lifts and painted in taupes, grays, and yellow. (I live in the Northeast) The popular TV show "This Old House" at the time started the self home improvement movement. There was increased consideration to paint period homes with historically correct colors. Many old Victorian homes were being bought up and restored to their former glory and then painted in multi colors popularized in the period to highlight the home's architectural details.
