A. I was too old for a Barbie they said so I never owned my own. But my 2 sisters did. Best memory swimming and camping at the lake. Worst memory telling my Mom my sister was molested. She spanked my sister for allowing it. Screwed up huh. My sister running and screaming at the threat of a spanking way before she was about to get it. I thought my sister was gonna die cuz she swallowed a penny. I ran around screaming for help and praying out loud.

How are memories stored in the brain long term?
Q. Brains are made of neurons and they contain our memories. Neurons die and are replaced like all cells, so how are our memories retained? How are anatomical or bio-chemical changes maintained in the brain? Do new nuerons become exact copies of the old and fit themselves in the same places, connecting to other nuerons in the same way?
Asked by Kimbo - Sat Mar 21 08:19:20 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Newly learned data are "stored" in short-term memory, which is a temporary ability to recall a few pieces of information. Some evidence supports the concept that short-term memory depends upon electrical and chemical events in the brain as opposed to structural changes such as the formation of new synapses. One theory of short-term memory states that memories may be caused by reverberating neuronal circuits -- that is, an incoming nerve impulse stimulates the first neuron which stimulates the second, and so on, with branches from the second neuron synapsing with the first. After a period of time, information may be moved into a more permanent type of memory, long-term memory, which is the result of anatomical or biochemical changes that… [cont.]

What to write in the memories part of my senior high school yearbook?
Q. All seniors are asked to write a paragraph of about 150 words about their favourite high school memories. The problem is, I don't have just a specific memory i want to put, nor would they be appropriate. I want to put something along the lines of the best memories being the friends I made... Whats a good way to say this? It doesn't have to be 150 words ... It can be as short as we want. Thank you.

What are some of your favortie memories from your favorite driver?
Q. It can be anything- a race win, a controversy, a quote, etc. My favorite memories from my favorite are his win at Talladega in the fall last year, his championship in 2001, the fight with Kenseth at Bristol in '06 and when he got into Matt again at Chicago in '06? So, what are some of your memories from your favorite?

A. Carl Edwards first cup win was against Jimmie but it was a great battle to the finish line, at Atlanta. Jimmie's win over Jeff at the spring race in Martinsville will probably always be my favorite. His Daytona, All Star and Brickyard wins, capped off with the championship in 2006 will always be special. Last year's battle in the chase with Jeff, winning those 4 races in a row, and this year's 3rd one in a row are obviously memorable also. 4's FINE N 09!!!

Are photographic memories important compared to memories in your mind?
Q. Just wondered what people thought on this topic. I don't have a great deal of pictures from different things I have done, but have vivid memories in my mind of those events. Is photographic memory of importance in feeling life fulfilment?

A. I suggest you to concentrate on your photographic memories like the blind concentrates on the sound. Most of people get confuse with both aural memories and visual memories.

Why are memories so important to coming to know yourself?
Q. I am writing a paper on the importance of memories or experienced events in coming to know oneself. Its based of Virgina Woolf's "A Sketch of the Past: Moments of Being and Non-Being". If you haven't heard of it, its basically about reflecting on memories and oneself, to discover who you really are. (almost like an Epiphany) What could be 3 possible prongs? (my essay question is actually, Memory is in important part of epiphany in Virginia Woolf s a sketch of the past) Or what are your opinions on this?
Asked by Sunshinebaby - Wed Mar 24 23:17:54 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Memories are vital. If you didn't learn the alphabet you wouldn't be able to read this. There is a part of the brain that works with memorizing verbal code called word, found in the auditory cortex. Memories, that aren't auditory, like visual memories associated with meanings, feelings, and words, can bring a person to understand who they are, when they look back on themselves and what they have been through. Memories give people an idea of how they acted yesterday, leading to the knowledge of who they are today. Knowledge of traits, and behaviors, and living routines, can all be memorized and be conducive to the realization of an identity.

What are you main memories of school summer holidays as a child?
Q. So a simple question - what are your memories of school summer holidays? Long caravan/beach holidays in the UK? Holidays abroad? Or just endlessly messing around with water bombs in a local park and when older trying to impress (failing) members of the opposite sex? Or did you do some work over the summer? Gardening for neighbours for six pence etc? AND do kids now have the same sort of experiences or are they slumped on a PS3 eating crisps, before going to the alps for a week?

How important are photo memories to a person? Would you want your photos put on a DVD to watch it occasionally
Q. Would someone pay the extra cost to place their photo memories on dvd's or online, so that the risk of losing them is little to none?
Asked by Bphil - Fri Jan 4 14:26:27 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I have over 300k of pics and all categorized. DVD is the way for storage. Forget what others say that , in the long run, they will fade. Not true. Period. End of Story. DVD are cheap, so make a backup of the backup in case you lose one. Perfectly safe. The problem is online, tends to get lost just the same. Don't kid yourself. Do your own proper backup and save your money. Use Nero...it is click and burn process.

Why bad memories have more influence on us compared to good memories?
Q. Remembering a sad event can make us upset as if it has just happened, you can end up crying or feeling depressed but it's not the same with good memories.Recalling a good event does not have such an influence. We never start laughing deeply or become overjoyed by remembering the happy moments we've had. Do you think the same? Why is it like this? The sad events are not only our failures, it can be loosing someone, being offended or anything else.
Asked by Massy - Wed Apr 7 05:52:36 2010 - - 16 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are a couple of reasons why this may be true. Others have already pointed out that we learn from "mistakes" or things that go wrong, or at least we should. You learn more from mistakes than from having done it correctly, but this seems to beg the question. Bad things often result in a "loss" from which we feel that we cannot recover. We always wonder, "What would have it have been like if this did not happen?" For example, if a stock did not crash, would we have made more from the dividends? More to the point, when we lose someone, life does not seem the same without them. Present events we have without them remind us that we are living through them without them, thus, we are always remembering bad events, either because we wish… [cont.]

How are memories and knowledge stored in the human brain?
Q. Part of what I'm curious to know is if memories and knowledge are stored in a way that could "in theory" be accessed after death. I realize that brain cells begin to die if they are deprived of oxygen for too long. But if a person's body was kept alive by machines, would it be theoretically possible to access the knowledge and memories stored in the brain?
Asked by Justin H - Sun Dec 27 04:51:26 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I believe it is through electric shocks/pulses like the rest of the body (nerves). Of course, the shocks would be in the brain, but I don't have any sources for this except my eigth grade science teacher, so you can either take that as a good or bad source. I actually had a theory about this before Christmas (I know it's Winter but even an atheist realizes that there isn't really that much seperation between church and state, and hell, I celebrate the spirit of it; getting together, loving eachother, the atheist version eccentially) break. My question was "Is knowledge materialistic?" He said yes so I responded "Does that mean that you could somehow harness that electricity and download it into a CD or computer?" Once again, yes, and this… [cont.]

Asked by Rick B - Mon Sep 14 20:31:25 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Life is a journey, not a destination. We grow as we travel, and that travel can be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. Climbing the mountain can be interpreted both physically and figuratively. Surely we climb mountains when we conquer addictions, heal ourselves or others, invent or create something of value to the human race. I will conclude with a few of my favorite quotes about the journey called life: --"The only journey is the one within." Ranier Maria Rilke --"It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end." Ursula LeGuin -- Let your mind start a journey thru a strange new world. Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before. Let your soul take you where you long to be. [cont.]

A. it's tough. the best you can do right now is to either 1) imagine your adult self helping your child self in the situations where bad things happened 2) you can try examining the bad events, and learning to look at them differently. As in, "that horrible thing happened when i was 5. I did not cause it or deserve it, but i absolutely survived it. 3) some people deal with bad childhood memories by trying to help other children who are undergoing that same bad thing now.

A. Well, first off, everything is in full 3D graphics, and voices have been added. Beyond that, there are new bosses, new moves for Riku, and the battle system has been overhauled and turning into something that's kind of a combination of the original Chain of Memories and the two PS2 Kingdom Hearts games. They made a lot of improvements on it.
